The integrity of the cured part is assessed using real time, high resolution, digital ultrasonic or x-ray imaging. With our two Boeing ultrasonic squirter systems and three full immersion ultrasonic systems, we have the capability to provide real time two or three dimensional imaging following the most intricate part contours under pulse echo and/or through transmission.

Two GE Industrial CT systems provide real time digital x-ray imaging for evaluation of thick laminate.

CFAN has capability to design and manufacture composite tooling in house. In addition, our tool room is equipped to handle both metal and composite tool repair.

Our Material Characterization and Quality Assurance Laboratory has full prepreg, resin and cured system characterization capability. The lab performs HPLC chemical characterization, infrared analysis for resin characterization, and thermal analysis using DSC, DMA and TMA techniques. Mechanical characterization of cured parts is performed following ASTM and SACMA protocols.

Using CATIA and AutoCAD CAD/CAM software, our engineers optimize ply shapes, and design tools and fixtures to manufacture the most complex products. Other off-the-shelf software is used for ply shape nesting and dimensional analysis.

The company is equipped with state of the art information systems, featuring Profitkey Rapid Response Manufacturing® with finite forward scheduling capability for enterprise resource planning (ERP), a 100Mb network, email and Internet connections. Our information systems run on a K-series Hewlett Packard server under Unix and a Dell Poweredge server under Windows NT. Engineering is equipped with Sun and Hewlett Packard workstations running under Unix.
